And so the debate goes. Who performed better on David Guetta's "Titanium" track - Mary J. Blige or Sia Furler?

It was leaked earlier that Mary's powerhouse pipes will be singing a new tune on the electric dance number. However, for some undisclosed reason, Sia, Aussie singer-songwriter, became the official version for the final cut of David's "Nothing but the beat" album. Quite honestly, I love both singers as they have very different vocals. But what got me choosing after listening to both versions the whole day, was Sia's distinct quality of voice throughout the song. Dont get me wrong, Mary J Blige is an amazing artist but Sia's raspy, raw sounds suits this song better. Leaving to me to conclude that Sia's version is better. Which do you prefer?

I spent a good 30 minutes being tickled by P&P. Lorenzo and Vincent's spoof on blogger Pandora's "Merry Christmas" was just hilarious.

If beautiful girls do not stop you in your tracks, im sure this beauty entitled 'Letterform for the Ephemeral' by Amandine Alessandra will.

Aptly titled, typography of this kind uses the human movement as a medium to create meaningful shapes that mimic that of letters. It seems rather whimsical at play but it actually expresses more than mere legible letters placed together. As the author describes, it is "using the humanity of the subject and its “freedom of speech” as a legal argument".

I have been a little out of sync lately. Too much happening and school project and exam stress. Now that that is over, im back to regaining some momentum.

Anyway, i wanted to share with you Spike Jonze’s 35-minute short film called "Im here". Its unquestionably about young love and innocence. Its also about acceptance and creating a world that makes you feel free and happy from one that discriminates yet realising and learning that giving a part of yourself away is ultimately the sacrifice needed to be made (figuratively and literally).

Totally quixotic yet terribly heartbreaking to see that sometimes love can be such a perilous addiction that we lose our person to feed the idea of being in love with another yet perhaps at the same time it was the sacrifices that allowed him (the protagonist) to transcend beyond what he was made for- emotions and feelings.

Alice in Wonderland, the much anticipated movie for this year is opening this thursday! I cant wait to see Tim Burton's version of the story and characters especially after Disney's 'happily ever after' in 1951. I mean, Alice will grow up sometime and find that life isnt what it seems at least that's what happened in Underland. Cant wait! Especially with all the enhanced 3D graphics, elaborated effects, awesome makeup and costumes. :)

Nuit Blanche

There were so much expressed in that 5 minutes; watching Arev Manoukian's direction of Nuit Blanche. The graphics, music and classic black white just fused together into a beautiful rhapsody. The intensity from the "fleeting moment between two strangers" was captured in this slow-mo traffic-stopping, glass-breaking and shirking of all sensibilities to explicate the "hyper real fantasy" so described.

To me this was the epic moment of connection and it was romanticised so carefully, it almost broke my heart. For those prolonged moments, it seemed the sole aching desire of their beings were finally able to bellow out to the other while explosive materials surrounded them like ethereal beauty. This made it so heart-wrenching as is elegantly mesmerizing. Award-winning short film indeed.

This video reminded me of the time when i was a little kid carrying a doll my grandma bought similar to this. It had eyes that opened while standing and closed while laying flat. It didnt help either when Chucky doll was screened in movies. It was a nightmare for a 4-year old.

Anyway apart from the creepy, i enjoyed the graphics. This animation had won several awards which you can check out at its website.

Glee has been running its 5th Episode in Singapore and i have to say this series is growing on me. Its like High School Musical with an older crowd (Though i 've not seen High School Musical before).

And im loving the vibrant colours. Purples. Browns, Peach, Reds?

You are correct and I apologise. Your last project was actually both commercially viable and original. Unfortunately the part that was commercially viable was not original, and the part that was original was not commercially viable.
I would no doubt find your ideas more ‘cutting edge’ and original if I had traveled forward in time from the 1950’s but as it stands, your ideas for technology based projects, that have already been put into application by other people several years before you thought of them, fail to generate the enthusiasm they possibly deserve. Having said that though, if I had traveled forward in time, my time machine would probably put your peer to peer networking technology to shame as not only would it have commercial viability, but also an awesome logo and accompanying pie charts.
Regardless, I have, as requested, attached a logo that represents not only the peer to peer networking project you are currently working on, but working with you in general.

So you have invented Twitter. Congratulations. This is where that time machine would definitely have come in quite handy.
When I was about twelve, I read that time slows down when approaching the speed of light so I constructed a time machine by securing my father’s portable generator to the back of my mini-bike with rope and attaching the drive belt to the back wheel. Unfortunately, instead of traveling through time and finding myself in the future, I traveled about fifty metres along the footpath at 200mph before finding myself in a bush. When asked by the nurse filling out the hospital accident report “Cause of accident?” I stated ‘time travel attempt’ but she wrote down ’stupidity’.
If I did have a working time machine, the first thing I would do is go back four days and tell myself to read the warning on the hair removal cream packaging where it recommends not using on sensitive areas. I would then travel several months back to warn myself against agreeing to do copious amounts of design work for an old man wielding the business plan equivalent of a retarded child poking itself in the eye with a spoon, before finally traveling back to 1982 and explaining to myself the long term photographic repercussions of going to the hairdresser and asking for a haircut exactly like Simon LeBon’s the day before a large family gathering.

I have a thing for this band Pomplamoose (can i call it a band?). It is a couple band by Nataly Dawn and Jack Conte. They are very funny, down-to-earth peeps which is what makes them awesome.

But seriously dont you think ascot ties are hot? We have seen so many men wear it yet it never goes out of style. In fact if one wants to have a modern twist to it, they can always wear a less dressy material like woven or knit scarf instead of silk like Brad Pitt's. Gosh i wish all men would wear like this. Though just make sure when he does, he has enough masculinity or boyish charm to match it with.

Im a bit slow but i just found out that Simon Cowell is leaving 'American Idol' for 'X Factor'! Well, i hate to say this but he was what made American Idol post-auditions worth watching. I have been faithfully following American Idol for a couple of seasons now and i cant imagine how different it would be after he leaves. Everyone likes owning something unique when it comes to clothes, shoes or jewellery. This goes without saying for me. However unlike costume jewellery or diamonds, sometimes something simple and clean yet oddly unconventional like this Punctirus jewelry has got me lusting over it.

It amazing to see how much effort has been put in the process of making something simple like this. I'll definitely go for the bracelet and if they make the choker chain longer then it will be perfect for me.

Come to think of it, it suits what this year is gonna be for me. Its about time i connect the dots of what i want to do after i graduate this year and snip away dead roots i have been holding on for awhile now. Its time to get my brain engine kicking for OH TEN. School week has started, family and friends are back to their normal work cycle and everything are are gradually falling into motion.

Project REACH- 2nd runner up!

Sigh of relief! My PR conference presentation for Project REACH is finally over. All along i thought the winning teams were up for best strategies and communication plan but actually they up for best pitches. We did our best and the judges liked our plan with not much questions asked during Q&A but i guess our pitfall was in the delivery of presentation part. I know i panicked and got too nervous. Accordingly, we were very close but in the end we got an Honorary Mention. Anyway, just as long the plans were all for a good cause to benefit the Non-profit organizations is good enough for us :) Honorary Mention out of 17 teams is nice too :)

Anyway will update when the winning teams' causes are published :)

I found out about this wonderfully funny "Improv Everywhere Mission" called Grocery Store Musical. The actors were singing and dancing like the movie Rent and as cheesy as the lyrics was, I was laughing and tearing along as they did the 'impromptu' musical. There were some moments that seem almost President Obama-like when the grocery store assistant came in on a cart singing "Yes, We can!".

If Singapore can have such fun quirky things without having to get permits, how interesting things will be!

This design by Ryan Yoon & Harc Lee is apparently not affiliated with coca cola as yet but the whole concept of trying to recycle, reduce pollution and save cost by embossing is quite good. The can looks slick and high-endish. I dont think the missing red would make a difference to an established brand. Do you?

Be ready to be amazed by this video i saw on Artistic Things showing an on-the-spot sand animation by 24 year old Kseniya Simonovaon from 'Ukraine's Got Talent'.

According to one of the comments, the words at the end translates to "You're Always Beside".
And yes she won the talent show contest.

Just last week, Niven and i went on a long overdue mission of changing the Xbox360 due to some Microsoft's hardware failure. As ours was the special Simpsons edition we got from MTV, we went from calling the local service centre to email overseas to find out costs of shipping to Australia for repairs. It was rather ex to ship over so we decided to just switch to a normal one.

Lo and behold, the day we went to change, it was raining bucket (which was the day Bukit Timah got flooded) and we had to cab there. We had to wait for awhile in the queue and finally when it got to our turn, we tried all possible ways to request for retaining the original yellow covers, the staff all said it wasnt possible and finally the manager who happened to step in said they could only remove the font face-plate. We thought what the hell at least we'll get the face-plate. Just as the manager popped the face-plate out, apparently the security sticker wasnt there. The manager made a fuss about having a security breach and how it is probably a paint job, he made many calls to find out if the change could be done.

Gosh we had to go through so much time wasting waiting around and even though it wasnt our fault (cause we def didnt change anything nor modify) but since the security sticker wasnt there and the painting, regardless of who supplied it, he said that due to the circumstance, pictures will be taken and sent over to Microsoft America to see if they would allow the switch. On top of that, there were a couple of busybodies peering over to see what had happened (you know those kind of onlookers at a murder scene? Something like that.) So the rainy afternoon went with disappointment and irritation AND possibly no xbox at all.

So TODAY, we got a phone call and guess what! With all the blessings in the world, not only did Microsoft America approved the change, the local microsoft will be shipping it to Australia for us to check for any modifications and repair the hardware and ship it back to our home address directly. Talk about not only do we not have to pay for any transportations, we will be given back the Simpsons edition itself too! How awesome a news is that? It was double the joy being told on Niven's bday too :)

Anyway a finally HAPPY BIRTHDAY! before the time ends. I hope you enjoyed the birthday surprise on Saturday and hanging out together on your day :)

Phillip Toledano interpretes hope and fears

I was awe-struck by Phillip Toledano's photography project 'Hope and Fear'. His simple strong message was brought across loud and clear.

The 'Hope and Fear' project on his website said

"Hope and fear is the external manifestation of the internal desires and paranoia that are adrift in America."

Personally, i think these conflicts of the mind are prevalent worldwide and certainly issues that men and women would face. Even though some are more relevant to America, i think its something thought-provoking for everyone to really ponder upon (pic 3 & 4). I was perturbed by some of the pictures for looking overwhelmingly creepy but overall impactful visuals.

Sleep. I cant seem to sleep. My neighbourhood is alive throughout the night. Cars are passing by almost every 5 seconds (being it close to a main road), people are yakking out loud and cats. Oh my goodness, you wont believe the ruckus they make with what ever the heck they do. Oh yes did i mention the car engines that never seem to die down? Or the slamming of car doors and lobby doors and neighbours who seem to order food in the wee hour of the morning and slamming their doors? Sigh sleep. I cant seem to sleep at all.

On a lighter note, you have to see this stop-motion music video. No matter how long ago i've seen this, its still a great delight to watch. Now, if only sleep can be this fun...*wistful*

Nikki Farquharson's work is nothing short of A for Awesome. Her ability to translate fashion and illustrations into mixed media art is just talent. And she's only 24.

Her 'Mixed Media Girls' shows how a wild imagination, some exploding colours and doodling can add a fun twist to sweet young things. In fact, dare i say radical and edgy.

Plus it makes your eyes play tricks on you but boy am i drawn to it like a fly to a light!

Stephen Wiltshire has got to be the most amazing autistic artist. He would actually view a major city from a short helicopter ride and then sketch the entire skyline with great details using only his photographic memory! He has already conquered cities like Tokyo, Rome, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Madrid, Dubai, Jerusalem and London. The latest one is a 20-feet skyline of New York!

Mythical waters with Elena Kalis

Seeing Elena Kalis's wonderfully unique creations, i just had to blog about it. Who would have thought that water can be such a wonderful medium for creative space? Her aquatic stories kept my eyes wide open, one after the next, addicted for more. The best part was when i emailed to ask her permission to blog about her art, she was quick to respond positively and that made my day. :)

Looking through her lens, Im just so enthralled by her visually stimulating and inspiring underwater dreamscapes. The manipulation of light, colours and objects created an aesthetically-pleasing fantasia where swimming pools became another world of its own. I loved especially the hair movement and bubbles. It presented me with a very ethereal feel of innocence and fragility. Truly her photography is like a breath of fresh air.

I remembered having seen Alexa Chung wear a nautical-themed overalls in Luella Fashion Show in September and i though how cute...

A couple of months later you see big names having the overalls looks. I dont think it could be because of Alexa Chung but she must have some foresight. The last i remember wearing one was when i was probably 6yrs old? I guess fashion updates the same look every 20 years. If i have one advice on fashion, it would be to safe-keep all your 'junk' for your future children, who know overalls will be in vogue in 2029.

Jolis Paons's paper dress

I dont know to express the brilliance of this dress that i found on Jolis Paons's flickr set. Can you believe it? This paper dress is 'designed and made purely out of phonebook paper'!? The details are wonderfully eye stimulating with the different textures that she has created and at every angle that i look, i see something different. Even the words have an added effect. It looks simply elegant yet edgy at the same time. The dress has captured my heart.

My lecturer is a very jovial and fun person with lots of on-the -spot witty comments but this is just one-of-a-kind kick-ass that seems like a joke yet a compliment. Talk about killing two birds with one stone. Not that i mind. :}

There is something about Miranda Kerr in V magazine. Her whole 1950s pinup mixed with current trends makes it innocently sexy. While it may not fall into everyone's category of destress, this visual art has a certain calming effect on me.

I was recently introduced to Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab where a myriad of unique perfume concoctions were made and sold. One in particular that caught my attention was 'Dorian'. Not only were people raving about it, it was also highly recommended by a friend. As i was reading more reviews, i started getting rather curious, apparently the smell was inspired by a character from a book . So i went on Youtube and found just the man i was looking for.

And guess what? Now, not only do i want to watch this movie but im convinced, i just had to placed my order for the perfume too. I do wonder why hasn't there been any movie promo for this?? Considering that it has been opened for two months in UK already.

By the way, this kinda reminds me of the movie 'Perfume'. Both were based on the theme of desire. While one was on the sense of smell, the other's on sight. Sometimes i think we humans are such creatures of sensory pleasures.

My friend Hit showed me this youtube video the other day and i thought this was rather interesting and different from your typical kid short film. Seriously i like this kid and his 'innocent' way of observation AND the fact that in the end both sexes are the same, no one is a winner. Kinda remind you of Chuck and Blair from Gossip Girl dont you think?

One last thing, i do believe some of what the boy said applies to both sexes. (The playground and the public pool) :)

Oh CarboPouch, CarboPouch wherefor art thou in Sunnypore?

The last time i remember drinking a pouch was back in primary school. Then, Capri Sun drinking pouch was the biggest thing (at least to me ;p). It was fun just squishing the packet while squeezing it to make sure i finish every last drop. Gosh how time flies.

Now in the 21th century, not only has such packaging become more economical which i see in many refill products but it made drinking, specifically beer from a pouch possibly the best thing.

Why? Well, i thought it was a nifty idea on how it target beer drinkers whose bottle consumption has led to pretty much a lot of space consumption and waste pollution. Having said that, im not too sure how much environment-friendly materials were used in this one. But such a packaging that can provide mass number of working adults enjoyment in a breeze and contribute to waste reduction? Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

Its amazing what efforts its technology has done to keep it fresh. In fact it its that good that it sound like a gimmick, (which i will never know) but one thing for sure, i like the packaging and the idea of 'Beer on the go'.

While I have never been a big fan of beer (once in awhile is fine (: ), i know my guy pals out there would love this if it ever came to Singapore. Hopefully it will taste as good as it looks. :)

We remember Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf in the TV series Gossip Girl, we see her in Cobra Starship's video and soon we will see her in two upcoming movies called Date Night and The Roommate.

I know most of you Meester fans would have heard the above by now but i thought it will be for the benefit of others like me who just found out about what Meester is up to. To see the transition of her character changing from prim and proper upper-east-sider to a psychotic obsessed girl. Even more so that this star is really coming out and about to expand her career. According to Rolling Stones, she is having a debut album through Universal Republic soon. Definitely something to watch out for.

Anyway, this was the "Good girls gone bad"music video that got me interested in what Waldorf oops i mean Meester is up to.

Sew! A needle pulling thread

Im one of those who have a huge dream of making my own clothes. Never mind, i passed my home economics through my sewing partner, have one of those rare moms who hardly sews and MANY friends (who have seamstresses for moms!) who are uninterested in things like sewing! :(

So braving it up, i got down to owning a sewing machine (thanks to the Great Singapore Sale!) for the last couple of months. What can i say, the love affair was fleetingly exciting but operation-wise it did not make the cut for me. With only two free lessons given by Brother to get me started and school work distractions, i barely sew anything significant. Better still, the books i have bought to aid me are collecting dust. I guess there's no fun when there aren't attractive projects.

So i got down to the easiest way; that is to sew through blogs. I cant get enough of sewing sites like this one The long thread and Sew Mama Sew. They always have some craft-speration for newbie like me to latch on, it gets addictive. Hours of lusting and clicking into a far away land.

Oh yes talking about The long thread, they are having a Giveaway by The Fabric Bar. I hope i win some awesome fabrics like Joel Dewberry's Ginseng Wood Pine in Stone after seeing something like this on keyka lou's etsy (I have actually bought the pattern too but have yet to try it out ;P).

I did get productive one time because my sister's birthday was near. A simple camera strap cover surfaced and it took me more than a few days to complete with so much unpicking due to under-estimating the fabric size to fit the strap.

Tiger Beer 'the last Tiger'

Tiger is an internationally known Singaporean beer with celebrities like Jessica Alba once promoting their ads. I enjoyed watching this one with the whole skin-peeling competition to top each other for the last beer. Though ultimately the point in this is that sex still sells as it is found in Carlsberg and many other commercials.

She has the most mass appeal in my opinion. Good looks and nice soulful voice especially when she sang "Falling" by Alicia Keys. I definitely think she has a huge fan base to support her and i look forward to her performances after last week. Her voice has set a high standard to Singapore Idol.

Tabitha Nauser

Her song choice of Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" was suited to her voice. Even though she was told that her pretty face intimidates the female population to vote, which may be the cause for her being in the bottom half, i think she's got a lot of potential to shine. In fact, even if she doesn't make it here, i bet she can still do well in the entertainment industry. Cant wait to see how she uses Ken's advice to her advantage.

Nurul Huda

This babe has the vocals and cute showmanship in her rendition of Britney's "Oops i did it again". Through the song, some of her actions were a wee bit too unnatural for me but I like her voice and her confidence and i look forward to her song choices.

Duane Ho

Definitely the Dark Horse of the competition. He sang Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" from her American idol performance version; and as a young 16 year old, he showed sufficient amount of poise in the song. I really hope his showmanship from this round will continue consistently.

Justin Jap

I like his boy band voice. I don't know why but his glasses gives him a very innocent boyish charm and with a smooth voice i would say girl fans out there would be swooned over but can he keep it up?

Farhan Shah Faizal Isa

The pretty boys of the lot with equally similar quality voice and i cant decide who would be better. They both have enough young female fans to last them many rounds. Guess it depends on who has more fans? You decide.

So im watching the Emmy Awards now on our local channel 5 and there were some favourite outfits i spotted on celebs...

Olivia Wilde from "House" in Marchesa
I simply love the ruffles from the mid-thigh, it gives a mystic vibe like a mermaid splashing out of the ocean in motion and Olivia Wilde just made many men's fantasy go wild inside..

Blake Lively from "Gossip Girl" in Versace
This fiery red number sure knows how to dress a woman's curves just like how Lively's best assets are put forward with thigh-high slits and plunging neck-line.

Leighton Meester from "Gossip Girl" in Bottega Veneta
At first i thought the shoulder area looked like big flower buds but after some inspection they are actually knots, quite elegantly playing up this outfit with a flowy skirt. It reminds me of a Grecian look.

Kate Walsh from "Private Practice" in J. Mendel
I liked how the dress created a cool breezy flowy feel with details made by the lines of the bust area that drapes into larger lines, its like wearing a big bow with large ribbon tail ends dont you think?

Jennifer Carpenter from "Dexter" in Zuhair Murad
This was absolutely exquisite. It made Carpenter look effortlessly chic with the lines making her look visually slimmer and interestingly the big flower bud shifts attention away from her modest chest.

Mila Kunis from "That 70s Show/Family Guy (voice)" in Monique Lhuiller
This deep red layered-tulle frock gave Kunis a vampire princess look but together with her hot killer heels, that combination made her innocently edgy and totally rocking it.

Its the first post where i can sum up the opening to more ideas, reviews and whatnots.

I stumbled upon this video through Jarbas Agnelli wondering what this was all about. As the video loaded, it just awe-struck me on the wonderful music created by this picture of birds. Never underestimate the little things. Just like how this spurred me to start Kismet Clover. Enjoy!
